On Friday, 11 September 2026, INDIES partnered with Universitas Atma Jaya to host Global Career Pathways: Working in the UK After Studying Abroad, a two-hour online seminar attended by more than 300+ students.

Led by Stewart James Morris, National Instructional Delivery Lead and University of Sheffield graduate, the session explored how students can prepare for an international career in the UK, from understanding career opportunities and possible pathways to considering how their university choices can support their long-term goals.

Throughout the session, we discussed opportunities across sectors such as AI and Data Science, Technology, Healthcare, and Green Energy, while highlighting that career planning involves more than identifying available jobs. Qualifications, professional experience, visa eligibility, employer sponsorship, and salary requirements can all influence which pathways may be suitable for international candidates.

We also introduced students to two possible routes into a UK career: applying directly for work opportunities or pursuing a study-to-career pathway. For students considering studying in the UK, the university experience can also provide access to internships, career services, alumni networks, career fairs, and professional communities that support their preparation for the workplace.

University selection was also an important part of the discussion. Rather than focusing only on rankings, we encouraged students to consider factors such as program specialization, industry connections, location, research strengths, and learning environment. For us, the right university is the one that aligns with the student's academic goals, circumstances, and future career plans.

At INDIES, our support goes beyond choosing a university or completing an application. We help students identify a study-abroad pathway that aligns with their goals, academic background, financial considerations, destination preferences, and future plans. Our support includes personalized study-abroad consultation, university application support, internal and external scholarship guidance, IELTS preparation, career mapping, and preparation for studying and living overseas. Beyond the application process, our University Preparation Program, UniPrep, helps students build global networks, strengthen their CV and personal brand, understand international academic environments, and prepare for internship opportunities. We also continue to support students beyond receiving an offer letter so they can adapt, thrive, and make the most of their experience during and after studying abroad.

Because getting accepted is one part of the journey.

Preparing for what comes next is just as important.
